The Bookmaker

In case anyone keeps refreshing thetartan.org every few minutes, I'm posting this Compubookie thread now and will update with the actual article when it appears.

Any predictions on what it'll predict? I'm guessing Fringe, PiKA, and then some other people. PiKA B will be ranked 83rd behind all women's teams and some people from Pitt that wander onto the course. This is in keeping with the Mayes postulate.

I'm stuck in an auto service department. Gimme a break.

Update The actual article, as noted by brown.

Comments

Better questions: What are the predictions on how many comments this post gets? Will it break the record? How many times will oof post to make sure it breaks the record?

Over-Under on how many times one of the Uncle Rico's from 2000 posts about a 5 digit number that is about every tenth word in Jon Mayes' vocabulary? I'll set it at a thousand.

the uncle rico comparison is uninspired at best because he didn't win the championship. He's reminiscing over something he didn't accomplish, pondering a "what could have been". Last time I checked, we took, and presently hold, the record. However, bob, you do have the most negative margin of victory, so you got that going for you, which is nice. my "uncle rico" moments would be those involving IM football....

Did Rob forget President Skroob's name? And having not overlapped with Rob, I never found out until this past weekend that he had no formal nickname. Can we remedy that this weekend? And this post has a chance of breaking the record for comments purely because it is a preemptive post, posted probably an entire day prior to the actual onlineTartan's posting of the predictions. And the word of the day is 'and.'

Oh, to those refreshing tartan.org or whatever it is on a very frequent basis: I believe that, although the hardcopy printing of the Tartan comes out on Monday, the online version does not get posted until Tuesday. Or has this changed in the past couple years?

If we're just gonna throw out some nicknames for Rob, I'd like to suggest either "Shins" or "Rickets". Neither one of them have anything to do with Rob, but those are the best kind. Looking up 'rickets', i have learned that it is characterized by a large head, crooked spine and limbs, tumid abdomen, and general debility... so yeah, I think we should go with Rickets.

Is our push team fast this year? I mean like Mayes fast. What time did he put up on hill 1 again? If they are racing old faithful on A team this year, I think all the money Beta Sigma has raised to date should be used to hire BTH as permenant buggy chairman and he can use it at his discretion to apoint his inner circle. This whole build/burn thing is getting kinda ridiculous.

Old Faithful (aka zeus) is running Men's B team (and women's A I guess?). A new one is running A team. This has been confirmed. If you don't want any of the money you donate to go towards buggy, you're more than welcome to designate it as such. Just let me know how much it was so I can up my contribution accordingly.

Oh please. As an ex treasurer, I can assure you that any designation you put on your check will be completely ignored. Unless you donate directly to the buggy chair in which case he'll probably spend it on beer.

--dean April 18, 2006 11:32:53 AM

BTH, you fail to catch my meaning which had nothing to do with money. Perhaps the throwaway mention of Beta Sigma was the problem.

I'm now pretty convinced compubookie changes hands regularly or else it did this year. The racist jokes aren't funny, but I guess the Tartan has to live down to expectations. I miss the compubookie of old with funny buggy related inflamatory comments and a nice zinger directed at pika to get pissed off about. This compubookie sucks.

so from all accounts, rob was the head of some form of money laudering ring. is this accurate? or do i know as much about money laundering as peter, michael, and samir? if it is true can we incorporate this into his nickname. something along the lines of the Shark, Knee Buster, EP Large could work. I'm up for suggestions. Anything to replace, Rob, you smell like your hockey equipment, Ready.
