How much game action actually occurs in a typical NFL game?

I saw this question with a link to the answer on another blog. I came with a minute of the correct answer when I guessed, but the answer would probably be surprising if you didn't try to do the math ahead of time. -decker

I was 6 minutes high. Gave too much credit for clock-saving in the last two minutes of a half; completely forgot that a lot of games end with kneel-downs. Also, I had no idea how many plays actually end with the ball-carrier running out of bounds, so I'd imagine I guessed high there.
